This Van De Kamp commercial that features a little girl who berates her mother for giving her minced fish is not cute and it is not funny. That little brat should be glad that her mother feeds her. Little blondie-locks does not have a job and contributes nothing toward the grocery bill. If she doesn’t want minced fish, she doesn’t have to eat. Guess what? If she get hungry enough she’ll eat whatever her mom puts on the table.

There’s a line in the Goldie Hawn movie, Deceived where Goldie Hawn is trying to retrieve a very valuable necklace that her child mistakenly gave a friend. The mother of the friend doesn’t want to upset her child by asking her to give the necklace back. After much banter back and forth, Goldie Hawn takes the necklace from the child and says, “Who’s the parent here?” That’s what I want to know – Who’s the parent here? Will the real parents please stand up?

No child has the right to speak to their parent that way and no parent should tolerate it. It’s not funny and I wish advertisers would choose another route to market products. Children don’t have to be rude to be funny.

I am sick and tired of rude, disrespectful children. About a month ago I was trying to find a funny video with children to feature on my blog. Most of what I found were smart-mouth, cussing kids whose parents thought it was funny. I wonder how funny it’s going to be when little smarty mouth gets put out of school for being disrespectful to the teacher or cussing at the principle?

Conceiving and giving birth does not make a parent. Parents have a responsibility to nurture and teach their children. Let’s go back to the old days and teach our children some manners.

Since I started blogging last year, I joined a few blogging social media groups: Blogged, Blog Catalog Stumble Upon and Technorati. I’ve made some contacts and added friends to my network. But this morning I checked my e-mail and was disturbed by a request from someone who had just added me as a friend and then put a message on my Shout box asking me to go to his blog and click on his ads! Of course, he would in turn click on mine. Oh h*## no!

Now I’m no saint, but I am honest and I absolutely hate for anyone to ask me to do anything dishonest. I’ve been known to give back $1 that the self checkout register gave me because it was too much change. Anyway, the first thing I did was send him a reply: “No thanks!” Then I deleted his message from my Shout box. I could have ignored it but I didn’t want people to think I participated in his little scam.

I went over to his profile. His profile is so empty that it’s scary. He has no photo, uses a pseudonym and offers no personal information. His web site is the same. The profile gives his gender and nationality. He had added about 20 new friends over a two hour period and sent them the same message he sent me. Quite a few people reciprocated. If they get caught, they’re all going down together.

To me, this thing is absurdly dishonest on several levels:

This person doesn’t know me – I could have reported his site to Google Adsense

If you have Google Adsense or affiliate ads that pay per click, they can pull your ads if they find out you asked people to click them

Even if Google or your affiliates don’t figure out that you’ve asked people to click your ads, if your click rate is high and your click through rate is low, they can pay you less

That said, it’s his problem and not mine. But don’t try to recruit me into your shady dealings. Just let me go about it the honest way. If I make money great, if not, that’s the chance I take, but for me integrity is priceless!

If so, you are not alone.

In case you’re wondering, HDD is not a real term. I made it up a few years ago as a joke. BUT, the premise is real – no hugs please! Why is it so difficult for people to understand that I don’t want their hugs? People seem to think that just because they like to hug everyone, that everyone else wants to be hugged too. Not so!

I know other people who don’t invite hugging, and they especially don’t want strangers and casual acquaintances to hug them. These same people don’t want to offend others by denying their hugs. I don’t have a problem telling people that I don’t want to hug or be hugged. I have a problem with people who say, “I know you don’t like to be hugged but I’m going to hug you anyway? WHAT! I absolutely hate that because it says to me, “I don’t care what you want, I just care what I want.”

What if I invited those same people to dinner and said, “I know you don’t like spinach but that’s what we’re having.” Would they be offended because I gave them something I knew they didn’t want? Would they eat the spinach just because I wanted them to or would they politely leave it on the plate?

Hugging is a wonderful thing if you like it and invite it. I just wish people would respect the wishes of those of us with HDD. And by the way, I’m not trying to be cured. I like me just the way I am!
