Well, Bravo’s Top Chef is down to the final four. From the beginning I thought Fabio, Hosea and Stefan would probably be in the final four. Carla wasn’t on my radar until a few weeks ago, but she has really stepped up her game. As far as Leah is concerned, I’m surprised she made it as far as she did. Leah seems to be a good chef but she is not ready to run a restaurant. She lacks the leadership skills.
Focus, Focus, Focus
The interesting thing about his challenge is that technically, it wasn’t that much of a challenge for chefs of their caliber. The challenge given them was to prepare the favorite/last meal for five legendary chefs. The meals that they requested were fairly simple and for the most part, comfort food. The real challenge was mental: cook a simple dish for a giant in the industry and try to not be intimidated by their presence and their palate. The chefs had to stay focused.
Carla May Have Shot Herself in the Foot
Carla might have been the Elimination Challenge Winner if she had kept her mouth shut. The judges were in agreement that Fabio and Carla’s dishes were the best. Carla had to cook squab and peas for Jacques Pepin. There was some discussion about whether or not Carla’s squab was slightly over cooked, then the judges agreed that it was a matter of preference. But, before the judges could address Carla during elimination, she offered that the squab was over cooked.
Rule number one, don’t point out your mistakes, let the judges find them.
The Finale
I’m looking forward to the finale. I think when it comes down to it, the final decision will be between Stefan, Fabio and Carla.
