Ted Haggard, founder and former pastor of New Life Church in Colorado, is doing the talk show/interview circuit. I don’t understand why. Two years ago he fell from grace when scandal of a secret homosexual lifestyle and drug use was exposed.
Since the scandal and his resignation from New Life Church, he and his family have lived quietly in Arizona. Now that Alexandra Pelosi has made a documentary about Haggard’s life over the past two years, the Haggards are back in the spotlight. Why? The documentary can be publicized without Ted Haggard, wife Gayle and kids running all over the country granting interviews.
The documentary airs Thursday night on HBO. It seems to be an insightful look at the high price Ted Haggard has paid for his indiscretions. If I had HBO I would watch it. I just don’t think he had to submit his family to this public humiliation again. I looked at his children on Oprah and their faces and mouths were sending different messages. Their words were positive and understanding but their faces and eyes were uneasy and embarrased.
Unfortunately new allegations surfaced while the interviews were underway.
